ABOUT DISTRICT COURT

Introduction

The unit of District & Sessions Judge, Bengaluru Rural District was established as per G.O. No. LAW 172 LCE 76 dated 30.06.1978. The Court of District & Sessions Judge, Bengaluru Rural District is functioning with effect from 24.07.1978. The headquarters of District & Sessions Court, Bengaluru Rural District is situated at Bengaluru City.

Juridiction

As per Government Notification No. LAW 129 LCE 86 dated 31.07.1986, the jurisdiction of District & Sessions Court, Bengaluru Rural District comprises the area of revenue districts of Bengaluru and Bengaluru Rural excluding the city of Bengaluru. Salient feature is that the District & Sessions Court, Bengaluru Rural District has jurisdiction over two districts i.e. Bengaluru Urban District (excluding the city of Bengaluru) and Bengaluru Rural District.

Brief Facts

• At present Tweleve District & Sessions Courts, Three Courts of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Nine Courts of Senior Civil Judge and Five Courts of Civil Judge are functioning at Bengaluru.
• One District and Sessions Court each is functioning at Anekal, Devanahalli and Doddaballapura taluks.
